  • Happy Holidays!

Although sometimes the holidays can be a really stressful time of year (especially as last week taught me), I love them.  Even with the stress you can always find happiness in making some cookies, giving loose change to the salvation army bell ringers and finding that little something that you know will make someone smile.

On Saturday me, Nick, Tyler and Dylan went to the Holidazzle parade downtown.  Some of my favorite memories are of my grandpa taking me, Sarah and Josh there as kids and then marvelling at the Dayton's holiday display.  He always bought us gingerbread afterward.  Tyler and Dylan had never been there since grandpa is now getting too old to bring them downtown, so I wanted to share with them one of my favorite memories.  The Metro Transit sponsored the night making the light rail free.  It was a perfect night.  Our butts still got frozen from sitting on the curb for over two hours, but a little cocoa and we were unthawed and came away from the night only spending $4.80.

It was wonderful that the Metro Transit was able to give a virtually free night of entertainment for families during the holidays.  It is so easy while doing your own holiday traditions to forget that some people don't have the luxury to have traditions.  Part of why I love the holidays is that you can give people around you a reason to smile.  I hope that this season I am able to do that.  I think I found my holiday charity today and I hope that it makes a difference, even if it is just for an hour or two.
